As well as developing and constructing his own innovative water feature designs, James has also applied his broad engineering knowledge and practical-approach engineering consulting on projects ranging from consumer product development to equipping industrial processing-engineering plant. He is an experienced project manager and trouble-shooter. James holds patents and design registrations in the UK & USA.

James Coleman set up James Designs Ltd in 1995 and is its managing director. James Designs has delivered a number of large-scale commissions including water features for Wessex Water and NESTA (the National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts).

James worked as a fluid dynamics consultant for Dyson Ltd for several years, developing new products, processes, and testing equipment. He has also undertaken engineering consultancy for Reckitt Benckiser, Rolls-Royce, BAE systems, British gas, Air Products, Welsh Water, Flymo and Cadbury.

James achieved a 2:1 degree in Mechanical Engineering & Naval Architecture and has been chartered for more than ten years.
